There are a variety of positions for leisure centre managers, from health clubs to swimming pools, high end fitness suites to outdoor sports facilities such as dry ski-runs.

The duties of a leisure centre manager vary widely, but will typically include:

  • Planning activities
  • Recruiting and managing staff
  • Financial responsibilities
  • Health and safety
There are two main routes to this job:
  • Starting as an assistant or trainee, while working towards professional qualifications
  • Complete a foundation degree, BTEC HND or degree in an area such as sports management, leisure studies, sports science, or recreation management.
